The word of God is something that every believer should have a strong appetite for. The reason is that spiritual birth and growth in the things of the spirit are impossible without the word (1 Peter 1:23, 2:2). A careful study of the story of creation shows that apart from the physical formation of man from the dust and the life-giving breath given directly to him by God (Genesis 2:7), all things God created were created by His word (John 1: 3-4 CEV). The word of God is so important that God has magnified it above all His name (Psalm 138:2 KJV). The word of God carries power to perform or deliver what it talks about, and it endures forever (Isaiah 55:11, Matthew 24:35 KJV). God carries out His operation in a man’s life through His word ( Hebrews 4:12, 2 Corinthians 3:18 AMPC, Acts 20:32). The importance of the word of God to mankind, especially to the Christians, is something that can never be exhausted, hence Matthew 4:4 says man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. It is not a surprise that when the word of God was scarce in Israel, there was no divine instruction, the nation was staggering toward eventual destruction until the arrival of Samuel (1 Samuel 3:1). This is because without having God’s word as guidance, without the light of truth, a nation will be like a blind man, stumbling around and not understanding why it keeps falling. The Bible makes it clear in Proverbs 29:18 that where there is no vision, the people perish and that knowing the truth makes one free (John 8:32). Death came through Adam while the resurrection of the dead comes through Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:21). The month of May is declared to be:
