In Genesis 17:1, God called Abraham unto perfection because He, God, is a perfect God. In Leviticus chapter 20, God was giving the penalties for violations of holiness to the Israelites, and in verse 26 He said, “You shall be holy to me; for I the Lord am holy, and I have separated you from the other peoples to be mine.” In the same vain, God wants His children to walk in excellence because He is an excellent God. He wants his children to be a role model to the people of the word. The Bible calls us the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13) and light of the world (Matthew 5:14) and commanded us to let our light so shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify our Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
We are different from the people of the world because we belong to God and we have His Spirit inherent in us. An excellent spirit that was in Daniel put him above the presidents and princes and the king decided to set him over the whole realm (Daniel 6:3).
Proverbs 22:29 (MSG) says ‘Observe people who are good at their work— skilled workers are always in demand and admired; they don’t take a backseat to anyone.'
The month of May is ‘OUR MONTH OF EXCELLENCE’ in Jesus name! In this month and beyond, we will never take a backseat to anyone. We will ever be second to none. We will display excellence in all our dealings because we have excellence producer (The Holy Spirit in us).
We are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, God’s own purchased, special people, we have been called to set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of God Who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9 AMPC). Glory be to God!
