2024: My year of His Kingdom and His will

The Bible instructs us in Proverbs 3:5 that we should trust in the Lord with all our heart and should not lean on our own understanding. If we do not lean on our own understanding, is it the understanding of other people we should lean on? No, we should not lean on the understanding of other people either. Hence Jeremiah 17: 5-6 declares:

“Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.  For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.”

On the contrary, Jeremiah 17:7-8 states:

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”

God does not want His children to trust in anything other than Him. It is reiterated in Psalm 118:8-9 that it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man and it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

The Holy Spirit, through apostle Paul, instructed Timothy to charge those that are rich in this world not to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God who gives us all thing to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17).

This is evident in the life of Elijah when the brook he was drinking from dried up. If he had put his trust in the brook and the raven, when the brook dried up (1 Kings 17:7), he would have encountered problem. But he did not encounter problem because the Lord who is the source made another provision for him (1 Kings 17:8-9).

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we (the children of God) trust in the name of the Lord our God (Psalm 20:7 NIV).

David understood this, hence he asked God for help from trouble because the help of man in vain (Psalm 108:12).

With this understanding, the month of June is declared

“OUR MONTH OF TRUST IN THE LORD”.

Glory be to God in the highest!

Brethren let us learn to trust in the Lord in this month of June. Let us stop to trust in ourselves, our job, riches, people… for no man shall prevail by strength (1 Samuel 2:9) and not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of God (Zechariah 4:6).
